Epiretinal Membrane

An epiretinal membrane (ERM) is a thin, web-like sheet of tissue that develops on the surface of the retina, the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye. ERMs are common eye conditions and typically do not cause symptoms for patients. However, some patients my notice severe blurred vision and distortion as the ERM pulls on the retina.

If the ERM is causing increasing visual symptoms, surgery may be required.

If you have questions about epiretinal membranes, it is important to seek care with an eye care professional.
